To test new designs I've enabled avatars. Currently it is set so you have to host them externally to keep things simple and working while we make updates. If you'd like to put up an avatar, follow these steps...

You need:
- A digital picture that will look good when reduced or cropped to 110 x 110 pixels
- An online photo hosting service that gives you static URLs if you don't have one yet, Photobucket is the easiest free option)

Step 1:
- Go to http://www.shrinkpictures.com/create-avatar/
- Choose your photo and set the size to 110 pixels
- Click "Resize"
- You'll see three images cropped in different ways, so pick the one you think looks best
- Right click or drag to save it your computer

Step 2:
- Upload this picture to your chosen photo hosting service
- Copy the static URL without any formatting (called "Direct Link" on Photobucket)

Step 3:
- Go to your user control panel on the forum
- Select "Profile" and "Edit avatar"
- Paste the URL into the link field and press "Submit"

If you have any problems, let me know. Of course you don't need to have an avatar, or you can wait until we get the forum fully functional, but feel free to try it out.

110x110 is a little tiny.

We might increase that size limit since we are doing linking only, it wont cost any space.

FYI, with the new style I increase the avatar size to 170 by 170. Smaller avatars are fine, but you can make them bigger if you want.
