Sadie has already been in a bay competition and on a couple hunting trips with her pink cut collar, which makes her look very stylish and easy to find, but I hadn't gotten any great pictures yet. So this afternoon I took her on a photo shoot in the greenbelt. I figured we might get a couple strange looks, cut collars are not the norm in Austin, but the light was too pretty to pass up.

It briefly crossed my mind that Sadie associates her cut collar with hog hunting. Just like a service dog knows wearing a vest means they are on duty, I figured she would recognize the collar as a marker. But I didn't think she'd go on a full blown hunt in the Austin greenbelt. Wrong. As soon as I unsnapped her leash, Sadie took off into the woods like her rear was on fire. She was zigzagging across the trail, crashing through the cedars, hell bent on finding a pig. Fortunately she only treed a very mad squirrel. I have no idea what I would do if she caught a feral hog in the city limits.

But her intensity did make for some good girly "hunting" photos:

Beautiful!!!

It amazes me that they know which collar, etc that is for work. Lucy gets so excited when I get out the lead and harness that I use when she is tracking. My nephew that is a policeman told me that the search dog that his dept used had different collars for his jobs. One collar was for looking for drugs and another collar was for looking for people. Dogs are just amazing.

Too funny! They are very good at association...that's a fact!

Julie, we need to get together sometime and take our dogs to the greenbelt. I take mine a couple times a week.

Julie that is just to funny!!!!!!!!!! Mike & I both got a kick out of it ! It would have been way too funny had she found her one...I can see it now...I don't think you can just run through the greenbelt with a "pig sticker" though... :P

That collar certainly stands out ! Our dogs get excited the minute they even see their collars and heaven forbid you put one on them without loading them up to go...

Mis, those pigs are definitely moving closer to town, and I wouldn't be too surprised if she ran into one. We're right on the edge near 360 and 183, so I'm sure they'll be trickling down from the northwest hills if they haven't already. Man, that is going to be a bad day!

Court, we definitely need to meet up. The problem is the new job has kept me very busy. I usually don't get out until after 6, so with the time change I've been taking Sadie out a lot during my lunch break. When do you normally take them out?
