YAY-- the well men are here!! They will have the well dug this afternoon! The guy 'witched' and found a good spot and they are drilling now. They will have to come back tomorrow, but hey, I can handle that. It will be sooooo nice to have enough water to do more than one water thing at a time. And, the biggest thing- not to have to check and make sure that the water that I am drinking doesnt look brown!! LOL!!

Dangit! You are gonna have water before we do! :)

Glad to hear it though....here's hoping they hit good water....

Supposed to go to round rock today to pick up the pressure tank, the pump is on the ups truck for this weekend, and I have 300 of the 600 feet of poly pipe I need to get to the barn.

I'm betting it will be a week before ours is in and working.

The good news is we have water at 25 feet :D

Supposedly, there is a stream running underground. He found one place, but decided that the place where they are drilling was better. Our other well was 140', but had caved in some, so we really were at 135 or something like that.

All I can say is that I am sooo glad that the wind is blowing away from the house! The caliche dust is all blowing away. Had it been the other way, we would have been swimming in caliche dust here in the house. I have just finished cleaning up after Roy cleaned out the refrigerator coils with the air compressor!! That would have been just too much! :( :-o :(

Yep.... It's all granite gravel around here, so it's good water. The well is 65 feet deep, but the pump will be at about 42-43 feet. That way if we run out, I can drop one more 20 foot section of pipe and still have water.

Turned out - 200', good water in clay and pumped 20 to 30 gals a minute! Will be good- not sulphury tasting. We are pleased. We were getting worried as they just kept drilling for what seemed like forever. They baled it (?) and the water just kept coming, so we should be in good shape, even better than we were when the old well was pumping good.

They will case it tomorrow then the pump and pressure tank will be put in, but dont know for sure if the will get that done tomorrow. They will do it all, including a building around it. It's sitting in the middle of our 'wheat' field, so there are no wind breaks, especially from the north, so it will have to be insulated good. Unlike Rod, who has the 'get go' to do so much himself, we are sitting back and letting them do it, for a good amount of money!! Ugh!

We will soon be able to run the washing machine and water the yard all at the same time! And, the grass is not completely dead, so it will come back without too much trouble. We dont keep the yard real green, but living in the middle of a desert almost, the green grass is a pleasure. And, I will be able to get my flower garden back again. Big YAY!!

Man, I would hate to have to pay for that deep of a well! We paid $21 a foot and at 200', that's enough for me!!

Whew, that's just awful!! But, they have you over a barrel. And, I understand that they have to make money, but the cost is just so outrageous!

I know that the drillers are really busy out this way. A lot of wells are either going dry, or needing to be redrilled, recased, etc. It's just been too dry out here for too long.
