Roy went out this evening to do some hunting. He really mostly hunts for meat for the dogs, but if a HUGE buck was to show himself, Roy would shoot it, I'm sure. A couple of the deer blinds are close to the house, so I try to keep the dogs close and try to be quiet.

Roy left a little before 5:30. About 5:45 or a little later, I went outside to feed the dogs and to do some of my crafting. Zap- Abraham shoots out the door! Lucy was next, then Larry. By the time I get a handle on what is going on, Abe is half way across the yard with his nose to the ground. I called to him, but since his nose was working, the ears weren't! He was headed towards the gate, nose still on the ground and by this time I am YELLING at him. I'm pretty sure that Roy is in the blind getting mad at me!! LOL!! Lucy is running right behind Abe and she is not listening to me either!

I finally got them stopped a little ways after they got thru the gate. Abe didnt want to, but he came back. Lucy followed. I spent the rest of the evening keeping an eye on them while I tried to do a little work.

Lesson learned- a dog who can track a dead deer, smell a porcupine up in a tree or find a ringtail in a tree late at night can also track the man who has gone hunting and doesnt want dogs around! :)) :)) :))

Yep, I had a blue dog that decided he needed to come check on my hunting ablities. I heard something along the lines of "BEN! @&$!.....stupid dog!" being yelled by Amanda. It wasn't long before Ben was at the base of my stand with a look on his face like he wanted to ask me if I had seen anything yet. #-o

I used to have a lab that would break or chew her way out of whatever I left her in, just to come sleep at the base of whatever tree I was in.

Never lost a deer when she was around :)
