Ours refuse to stay away from skunks. I don't understand it. They HATE being sprayed and they HATE the deskunking bath that follows...but they cannot resist those bouncing fuzzy critters.

Abe goes for the front, when he does go after one. The other two dogs just wont mess with them. Which is really, really nice. I got very tired of bathing them until they figured it out!!

Ours haven't gone after a skunk in a long time, but I'll never forget the time I was pregnant and SO sick. Aggie got sprayed and then wallowed around on the porch trying to get the smell off...the whole house stunk so bad, I was just about ready to move!

Oh, skunks and being pregnant and sick had to be terrible! It's such a sicking smell anyhow.

When I was growing up, we lived out in the country. We had a dog that was part chow and part German shepherd, I think. At any rate, she had chow in her. She hated skunks and there were plenty around. We lived a couple of blocks from the river. Our house was pier and beam and there was an opening were she could get under the house. She would catch a skunk and kill it, then bring it and put it under the house. Daddy would have to go under there and get the skunk. It must have been awful being under the house with no ventilation. Daddy's do things that no one else can do!
