Post subject:  HELLO EVERYONE

I've been lurking on this forum for a while now and I have picked up plenty of usefull information. I live in new jersey and my Lacy is a big hit were ever I take him. It seems no one in jersey ever heard of a lacy, everyone loves him(he is a pup) and seem real interested in the breed. I plan on training him to blood track and shed hunt, and if that don't work out I will still have a great companion. He is twelve weeks old and goes almost everywere with me, so far we are taking walks in the woods and on the beach and fishing on my boat. He is 95% house broke and learning real quick what toys are his. With no special training he has already tracked down and killed over 100 sticks. btw his name is Dallas, my daughter told me it's a common name in texas but so far it's the only one I know of in jersey. I'll do a progress report and let you know how he is doing. Is this a texas longhorn?

Hello and welcome, Paul!

Yes, that looks pretty much like a Texas longhorn! LOL!!

Sounds like you are on your way with your Lacy dog. They are wonderful dogs, just gotta spend time with them, especially when they are younger. Mine are all over the age of 7 and we still have to spend a lot of time with them! They expect their walks of a morning, no matter how hot it is, so my husband gets up earlier and earlier to take them. Me, I stay in bed during the summer! This summer has not been terrifically hot yet, so they are not having to get up so early. They get to chase what they find, be it rabbit, coon or ring tail, or lizard for that matter and that satisfies them. And, if they dont find anything, they are still satisfied just going out and using their noses. But, a jack rabbit will wear them out for the day in the hot months. Good luck with your pup- these are great dogs!

Have no clue without looking at a map how close Maryland is to Jersey, but I know of 3 lacys that are in Maryland. Joe McHugh has one of my Lucy's pups and another lacy and he is often on our facebook page. There is also another person in Maryland that has a lacy, but I dont know them. The facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/groups/74510951643/ and unfortunately, or not, more active than the forum. I fought the fb page for a while, but finally gave up as it is the way things are now a days, so maybe we will see you there.

Once again, glad to have you here and love the pic!!
