Hey guys. Looking for some input and advice. To be clear on the front-end, I have no idea if this dog is actually a Lacy whatsoever. The only reason my wife and I even began looking into the Lacy as a potential contributor to this dog's breed was due to someone who has Lacy dogs thinking he looked like he COULD be a tri-color without having really seen him in person.
Anyway, this dog was abandoned (with 6 of his brothers and sisters) at the church where I work and I took one of them in. There was quite a mix of coat colors in the litter. So if he is Lacy at all, I assume he is nowhere near pure due to the amount of white in his coat, plus one of the pups was almost all white with some black.
He has really prominent blue eyes, but I'm not sure if that's due to him just being a puppy or a potential breed indicator.
If he is a Lacy, even in part, I've got some further questions in regards to lifestyle and behavior. But if not, I'm not sure I need to even bother.
I am, however, curious about clicker training generally speaking. I read this article: https://workinglacys.wordpress.com/2009 ... ditioning/
and it was definitely a good read. I'm specifically curious how to stop behavior such as chasing cats or chewing shoes. I know he needs alternatives, but how do I deal with the behavior in the moment considering I need him to stop immediately (meaning ignoring the behavior doesn't seem like an option).
Thanks for any help you guys can provide.
