There has been a good bit of discussion on E-Collars. My favorite feature of the collar is the tone button. I have trained Jackson to come with the tone. Here is a video example of how it works.

I'm a big fan of E-collars.

The Leerburg website has some great articles on E collar training. Leerburg training methods were developed for working dogs so many of their techniques make a lot of sense for use on lacys.

Check them out!

From what I've read on the 'net, Leerburg gets a lot of criticism from the pet owner community because they encourage the use positive punishment to correct stubborn dogs...dogs that don't respect the word "no." Positive punishment is most effectively administered with a correction collar (prong collar) or E collar.

All of my dogs know that the tone means stop what you are doing and find Clifford... I have recalled Jones from as far as a quarter mile away, when I let him get that far out in a field in Illinois!

Courtney,

I am too...after training as many bird dogs as i have, they are invaluable...
I have talked to alot of people about using them and how to

the main thing is that the dog knows the command FIRST...then you overlay the e-collar to reinforce the command...

If i put an e-collar on a person and gave them commands in Chinese and they didn't do what i wanted and i shocked them...they would NEVER know why they were being shocked and/or what they were doing wrong...same with a dog
