Seeing the post of the biggest hogs got me to thinking about colored hogs. lets see some pics of them colored or spotted hogs. I have always wanted to catch one of them blue hogs. never seen one here in east texas.

DJ and Jeff caught this one. Looks like he had some Hampshire in him.

I have always had a thing for the spotted hogs. I know you dont have a choice when hunting with dogs, but if a bunch came around when I was bow hunting with a spotted hog in it, that was always the one I went for.

I had killed that one the evening before and before we cut it up, Zach, just short of turning 6 at the time, did the mountain man pose with it. He killed his 1st hog just a couple months later with the bow he's holding.

Oooh, I like that spotted one, what a cool hog!

I think this calico one was pretty neat, and that was my first hunt.

Image

This was on my first hunt too. We caught three and two were cool colors, I got spoiled early!

And I saw a pack of shoats one night that was all sorts of neat colors, including two pure white ones. They were truly white, not domestic pink, don't see very many of those. But we normally get the black ones.

We had a solid white boar bout 200lb haul butt in a feild last week. The dogs were bayed on a group 500 to the south of us. We cut out a buddys CD. Hog had a 300 yard head start, dog got withen 20 yards before he hit the brush. Lost it after that. Was a close one for sure.

Most of the ones we catch are boring black.

We called him "Pumba" and when the dogs first caught him I had to carry him home in a feed sack in the front of the truck. We kept "Pumba" for a year using him to work young dogs. This photo is from the last time he was used for training. No we didn't kill him...the hogs we "train" for training live good lives and are rewarded for a short time for their service :))
