Well, the other night i got on this hog a second time with no luck...

The first time we came across him, he ran right past me and i got a pretty good look at him. He is BIG! Well he isn't "uncatchable", but the conditions are horiable! He lives along a creek thats always runs, with steep steep steep sides in most spots, with some crossable spots. The brush is so thick it litterally tore my shirt completely off. In the 3 hours we spent chasing him that night i crawled on my belly from bay to bay but as i came close he ran off. There is no way to stand or walk around in this brush, he has little tunnels cut through the undergrowth which is the only way to get around. Plus the ground is so dry its hard for the dogs to smell.

This second time, the chase wasn't near as long, only lasting about 30 minutes or an hour. I guess he got dog smart really quick???? He knows this brush real well and seems to be using it to play in his favor.

So now i'm stuck??? I guess i'll keep trying till i get that nasty sucker.

Any ideas?

When ever we get in a situation like that, we always find ourselves with an RCD or a CD that can be released from anywhere in hearing distance. Its not the safest method but it has proven an effective means of stopping the BS.

Did you get my PM the other day?

Steve

Turn your catch dog loose if ya get close enough to the bay. or find someone with a half pit baydog. My catch dog is not real good in this situation he would rather run threw brush instead of going around it 3ft when going to catch. But he will knock a hog off it's feet when he hit em Also if you don t have a coon light invest in one it gives you both hands to leg the hog instead of just one while your other holds the flash light.
