The ground is damp, the air is cool, and the wind is still. Great conditions for a hunt! My friends and I loaded the dogs (Rooster, Sue, Dixie and Tiger) and headed for Runge, Texas. Not 30 minutes into the hunt, Rooster struck and the race was on! About 700 yards later, we had a solid bay going (completely forgetting we are close to the river) I sent the catch dogs in. The hog fought them off and made a run for it, I knew exactly where he was going. Then here comes the splashing…

Well here is how the weather goes both ways. It has been raining a lot over this way and the San Antonio River was pretty high which caused it to be extremely swift. This nice cool weather caused that river to be COLD!!!!!

We got down to the riverbank and saw them already on the other side. This hog was a fighter! Well, one of the friends who came with me has been on a swimming hunts before so he was ready to swim across with me. Good thing I learned not to swim with your cloths on, because I would have ended up at the bottom. We get to the dogs and they got one mean 200-pound boar caught. After we dispatched him, we sat and tried to catch our breath. Tiger wanted no part of going back across that river so it was extra hard to swim back while pulling the dog back.

Everyone made it out safe and sound! Those dogs and I slept like babies!
