Ya, I know it has been a while. I have just been too lazy to post.....

When I left the Nueces, I head strait to a ranch on the Blanco River and met Mike at the gate. He had Trapper, Brutus, Sunny, two pups and of course Mia.

We spent about the first hour trying to procure the new combination, which had apparently been changed when a new entrance was built the week before.

About 30minutes after dark, we finally had dogs on the ground. The dogs hunted and took a couple of tracks, but didn't get to excited about anything, and the pups just acted like pups.

As we got to the cattle trap, where the rancher feeds hay waters out of a windmill, the dogs all took off a little ways before we heard a bunch of grunting. LOUD grunting! We really couldn't even hear the dogs bark for all of the grunting. So we worked our way up to find the dogs giving wide berth to a rallied up group of about a dozen boar hogs ranging from about 200lb to 300lb.

We sent Mia in to seal the deal and boars scattered everywhere. She hung a little 200 pounder, which Trapper helped with, while Brutus and Sunny took out after another and the pups started getting excited and figuring out what this woods thing was all about.

Brutus and Sunny end up heading back to us when they heard all of the commotion we were making in an attempt to get this little guy on the ground. He wasn't big, and he didn't have much tooth, but he sure did have a lot of fight.

We would have loved to cast the dogs out after another, but Mia was done for the night. I used every staple we had on her and 30 minutes later, she looked like Frankenstein with her head zippered on.

The pics don't do him justice....

A "little" 200-pounder, huh? I bet he didn't feel small when you had to leg him!

I think everyone has been too lazy to post lately!!

Sounds like it was a good hunt, despite the problems. And, you got those pups on some real hogs! Thats not all bad!

Thanks for posting,
Betty

Oh, and I'm glad to see Sunny got in on some action! I've been missing her!

Unfortunately, Maya required further stapling and sutures after Mike & Sawyer got home..
She is hanging in there but the swelling and drainage has made it tough for her to swallow...making getting her antibiotics down her tough as all get out!
She is still wagging her tail & butt like it was just another night in the woods, which to her it was, but this was a closer one than Miss Maya has seen in all her 5+ years in the woods now.

Have to get a new vest for when she is healed up X( damn pigs!
Thank God for good hunting dogs or we would all go to the pigs :p :))

Wish I could say it was laziness that has kept me from the computer..unfortunately it's been work and a crazy schedule...miss y'all though!

Ouch, hope she's alright. :( Did she get cut in the upper neck or something? I've only ever had them get cut in the chest and past the end of the vest.... Those dogs are so tough, though, you could rip one of their lungs out and they'd still be act like nothing was wrong.
