Here's some dates and locations for bay pen competitions in the first part of 2010. If you want extra details on any of these, please post up and I'll track them down. Fort Bayou will be a huge event, the hogs from Circle T will be used at Uncle Earl's and Winnfield is basically the national championship of hog baying.

Jan. 9 - Cool Arrow in Pearsall, TX
Jan. 16 - Poor Boys in Sulphur Springs, TX
Jan. 16 - Real McCoy in McCoy, TX
Jan. 23 - TnT in Bremond, TX - note this is rescheduled from Jan. 9
Jan. 29 to 31 - Fort Bayou Ranch in Vancleave, MS

Feb. 13 - Circle T in Franklin, TX (hogs will be used at Uncle Earl's)
Feb. 28 - Hickory Crossing in Hartwell, GA
TnT in Bremond TBA

March 24 to 28 - Uncle Earl's in Winnfield, LA

There will be monthly bays in Bremond, Pearsall and McCoy, but the specifics haven't been finalized yet.

Do you know what time they are starting the McCoy bayings now? I'm not sure if they're still sticking to that later schedule out there...

Hope you get this in time Camo! Yes, they are rescheduling for next week. With the weather this weekend they are worried about the roads, the dogs and the hogs. Gilbert said everything is bedded down with loads of hay. I'm pretty sure the humans being cold was last on the list ;) I'm still going to get Sadie tomorrow though, can't stand another day without her.

Rachel, I think they are doing mornings right now since the sun sets so early. You can always go here, http://boards.tx-outdoors.com/viewforum.php?f=2, they are pretty good about posting any details. If y'all decide to go to one, let me know, I may be up for the change in scenery. And honestly I bet it's about the same distance as Bremond, just not as scenic of a drive down to SA.

Thanks. :) We try to go as often as possible if we don't already have plans. It's a lot closer for us to go to McCoy than Bremond.

The info for the McCoy and Pearsall bays are usually posted here: http://boards.tx-outdoors.com/viewforum.php?f=2. Right now the bays are in the morning, gates at 10 and puppy bay at 11. If I remember correctly, McCoy is about 30 minutes southeast of San Antonio. The people who run them are really nice, though the crowd is a little different than Bremond, the calcuttas can get pretty high!

Yeah, I avoid those calcuttas! I also try to avoid bringing my siblings because they always find a free puppy or some other creature to beg for. lol The bays are fun and the people are nice, but it's different than Bremond. It's probably a little more than 30 minutes from SA, it's down past Pleasanton. If you happen to come down, give me a shout and I'll see if we can be there too. :)

They have smaller hogs for pup bays. The pup pigs are pretty good size, but not too bad. I won't be there this weekend, though. I have a four year old's birthday party... If you do come down antoher weekend, I can try and trap something small and we can train on some property I have down there it it's ok with my dad. :)

Rachel has been more recently that I have, it's been about a year since I was in McCoy, but I wouldn't worry about the hogs being too much for your pups. They were greener than Gilbert's but certainly no greener than Mike's. I'm also not sure if all the cutters were dubbed, so make sure you bring cut collars, I've seen a very catchy dog get hit in the neck at McCoy and that's no fun to fix.

If you Google Map it, make sure you enter "County Road 425, McCoy, TX" to check the distance. Apparently there is another McCoy in North Texas, but you want the one south of San Antonio. Mine is saying 2 hours 8 minutes from 360 and 183 in Austin, so not too bad.

Just remember, Roger is very good at hiking those calcutta up, I've seen several over $150, so hold on to your cash! He's also friends with Steve and Mike, so don't be afraid to walk right up and ask questions. Michelle from Los Cazadores Cut Gear, a blond with big ole Dogos, helps him out and is super nice as well.

If you'd rather head north, Poor Boy's in Sulphur Springs is also going on this weekend. The Boyds a very well respected, I know several TnT regulars will be there, but the competition will be stiffer and it's a longer drive. Kelley Boyd left her number in this thread if you have questions: http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/foru ... ic=11851.0.

Sure is exciting to see you keeping those pups on task :-BD At the rate everyone is going in the woods, in the pen and on the blood trails, 2010 is gonna be an awesome year for working Lacy Dogs!

If you're going to this one, check the schedule first so you don't get there before you need to. We went last year, and it was LOOONG. I think it lasted about 14 hours or so.

Yeah, the Sulphur Springs bay is supposed to be pretty big. Amber, I thought I heard it was in a covered arena, is that true?

Camo, I will probably catch up on work this weekend. If I go anywhere, it will be McCoy, just seems unlikely at the moment. But I'm due for a trip to one of Roger's bays. We'll have to pick one where you, the Connallys and I can all meet up. It's not too far for the Colliers either and they are so much fun!
