Oooh, sorry, Julie. :( That bites.

Haha, I'm sure I'll have one dog that figures out to get himself cut. I've got some who like to go kamikaze. Ox practically fed himself to a hog last time we were there. :)) He didn't want to stop running, though. lol

Aww, we've jilted you again, Camo. :( :( I'm so sorry...

I woke up at about five to load up dogs and leave. I got every one loaded with cut collars and water and what not and when I went to my dad's room he said "Bremond is three hours away! I'm not driving there!!" Ugghh... I'm sorry. I was so ready to go... I really wanted to get to that bay. :( Apparently he thought I was talking about a bay in McCoy or somewhere closer. He had to take me on a late-morning hunt to make up for it... I hope to meet you and your doggies sometime, and apologize in person my never actually going to the Bremond bays!

Hey Rachael no problem we did not have a good day ! I am not sure what was up but Patch and Sammy were just not on there game at all. Most of the dogs there were about the same the ones that were on were really good and the rest just did not bay well. So we will practice some more and try again next time !! I found out there will be another bay in Diana Tx in Oct. it is a 2 day bay . The last one they had there was really a good one.

Sorry to hear that. Mine have their off days, too. I think we walked around for three hours a week or two ago and didn't see one pig! They didn't even find rabbits to chase!

I hope you make it to the NLDA meeting. I think we're all going to the Pearsall bay and it's run by the same guy who does the McCoy bays, which are pretty well-run. They run for a shorter period of time, though. My dad says if we're gonna drive three hours for a four hour event, we have to spend the night somewhere. Oh, to be old and cranky...

Off topic.....

We need to find somewhere close by the Nueces to make an actual hunt.

I have some calls placed but I cant guarantee results. For that matter, I cant even guarantee my personal attendance, but I will try.

We hunt a good-sized place in Devine, but I really don't think I would be allowed to bring a whole group there. It's about 45 minutes from Cotulla. It's high fenced on one side with ranches on the other sides. Got a little cabin on it that will sleep a few people, but we'll need tent if more than like four people are staying. My uncle lets us run it, but he is pretty strict about us being down there... Maybe if we get a count on how many dogs/people will be hunting I can ask him? There's cattle, a hellhole of rabbits, and the white tail come in like flies to a lamp. lol. We've seen some decent pigs down there, too. I know there's a few big groups because they destroy feeders and are all over the cameras during deer season.

If there's a farmer with a corn field around there, July would be prime time to hunt it.

Racheal you and your dad are welcome to stay at my camp in Mexia anytime . It would be a little farther drive it is about a 1hr north of Bremond but your welcome to stay we have lots of tent space or camper if you have that and if you want to sit at a stand and try to shoot a pig you can do that too.

Sorry to here that Camo. They all have their off days from time to time, and you never know what will happen when you add strange hogs, strange dogs and an audience to the mix. I guess that's what makes bay pens so exciting! And it's why I'm so impressed when a dog can do it over and over again, in any location with any hog. They are one in a million and awesome to watch. Of course it would be even more awesome if one was a Lacy :-

Speaking of any location... pencil in the July Cool Arrow in Pearsall if you can! I'm 95% sure of the date, July 10 in the evening, but I'll post as soon as it's confirmed. They have a totally different group of dogs down there and some wicked fat ole boars.
