Everyone and their brother on ETHD (http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/forum/) is talking about this bay. Apparently a bunch of people went to the one in April and thought it was great. Family friendly atmosphere, good people and fair judging. So now I'm all curious and want to take a trip to Bremond.

Anyone else interested in meeting up on May 23? It's about 2.5 hours from Austin and Dallas. And Amber, it looks relatively close to Alto ;) If we have enough people interested, I'll give the organizer a call and see if we can bring in food for a picnic. Plus, I can take pictures, so this is an opportunity to get shots of your Lacys in action, maybe some outdoor portraits too.

What do y'all think?

Julie, thanks for putting these on the fourm, I want to go to a bay comp bad. Will also have to take someone up on the pratice pen, I think Sage might take to it? Angie has the pups so she out for now. I also liked the fourm on the east texas hogdoggers web site on the 10 month old lacy baying those two small pigs.

It's about 3 hours from Alto. I'll talk to DJ about it. I know Aaron won't be able to make it because that's the weekend he's letting his puppies go.

The schedule on this one looks better (for us) than the last one we went to. The one in Sulphur Springs ran the pro dogs first, which made for a loooong day.

So, Chad, are you going to come to Texas and go to the bay comp?

I talked to DJ about it last night and we MIGHT go. We're a little worried about the dogs, because they haven't been in a bay pen in a few months. If we do go, we'll probably take Sunny and Piper. Piper used to be excellent in the pen, but now that she's hunting in the woods, I think her style will have probably changed. Piper is 10 months...she could still compete in the puppy comp., right?

Yes. I think all that I will bring is pups.

I will probably make Steve brings Brutus too so I can run Sadie in the most events ;) Unless someone needs a partner for the Two Dog Amateur. She'll run next to any dog as long as a pig is involved.

Sadie hasn't been in a pen for months either, probably not since October, and she starts to break eye contact and make loops when she feels uncomfortable. So I'm not expecting anything impressive. I just think it's fun to watch her, and she absolutely loves to bark at hogs, so I know she has fun too. Plus it sounds like this baying is pretty laid back, lots of woods dogs and people just going for a good time.

Savoy, will you guys be driving up that morning or getting a hotel room?

I dunno if we are gonna make it..if we do I don't have a dog 1 that wouldn't get DQed for being too mouthy :))
Would love to go watch but have to check the schedule...KD has finals, Saw & Hannah TAKS ...2 b-days days, work, oh and a boat load of dogs. Maybe tho..

I'll go ask the people on ETHD what they think about it cause I'm sorta torn and don't want to steer you in the wrong direction.

Here is my thinking. Since Remi is a bit older, physically fit and has already been exposed to barking at wild animals (though a squirrel is a wee bit different than a wild boar :)) ), she might be OK if you put her in with an experienced adult dog. That is the whole point of the Young and Old, and sometimes they allow a ringer dog in the puppy bay as well. If they smaller hogs for the pups, that would be even better, though the big bay pen boars have a tendency to be pretty lazy. And this is a pretty informal event, I think it is the right kind of place to bring young dogs and learn the ropes.

Just so you know, they won't let the owners into the pen for safety reasons. You can hoop and holler and cheer her on from the sidelines all you want, but she'll have to rely on the other dog to show her the ropes. I would be more than happy to run Sadie with her if you do decide to come.

Before I get carried away, let me run this by some of the more experienced pen peeps. But it would be great to meet y'all!
