The puppies are 6 weeks now, and they're so funny to watch. They play super rough, and they bark and growl like they're big dogs when they see something they're not sure about.

Yesterday, I looked out the window and saw them all laying on what I thought was Shelly. I went to get my camera to take a picture, then "Shelly" stood up. It was Pablo the goat! They're so hard to get pictures of because they're always moving. Most of the pictures end up being just a blue blur, or a huge puppy nose! Here are a few I took on Saturday.

Such beautiful babies Amber! That red one is too pretty for words. What mix of sex and colors did you end up with?

We have 2 blue males, 1 red male, and 3 blue females. I was hoping for more diversity since the grandmothers on both sides are tri-colored, but the ones we have are good looking dogs so far.

I've been wondering about their white markings, though. Aggie has the blue ticking in her white patch, and I know that's supposed to be dominant. I remember from her last litter, that they're born with a solid white patch and the ticking shows up later, but I can't remember when. The reason I'm curious is because they all have the ticking exept for one blue male. He has a solid white patch on his chest and solid white toes.

All of Lucy's pups had ticking in the white at birth. Larry and Bull have solid white, so that would hold up the dominant gene thing, I would think. Never had a pup that didnt have it.

Good looking pups.

I'm holding my breath. Hope to know something next week on the litter I'm waiting on.

Ed, who are you getting your Lacy from? Or is it a secret? ;)

If they have enough females, I'm getting Paradise from Pup and Gracie.

That's the plan.

How long do you keep yours before letting them go to their new homes?

They're 7 weeks old right now, and we plan on letting a couple of them go within the next few weeks. The NLDA Breeder's Code of Ethics requires breeders to keep them for at least 8 weeks. We'll probably keep the females for the majority of the summer, until we decide which one(s) we're keeping.

A little early then. I'm going to be up in your neck of the woods this weekend and was going to offer to transport if any needed to head back this way to a new home.

We had to go to Palestine to pick up a grinder and sausage stuffer on the way to mom's in Center so we basically circled Alto.
