My dad and I toted all our Lacys down to the McCoy last night and met up with Camo and his dogs, Patch and Sammy. :) After sitting through many hours of waiting, we finally got to run some dogs. Diesel was a complete embarrassment -- acted like he had never seen as pig and tried to run out of the pen. Ox bayed, but his loop-de-loop, loose baying didn't score too well in the pen. We waited through the whole bay to run Patch and Levi together in the two dog at about midnight and they did pretty well! We got a fancy little trophy and took third place. My dad got the bay on video, though it took him a while to figure out how to work the camera. lol

Patch has on the vest and Levi's in the orange cut collar.

Looking back at the video, I can definitely see where we got some points deducted. Levi kind of just stopped right at the end there. I think those times he glanced out of the pen were not counted because of the kiddos making all that noise, though.

Anyways, we all had a good time. Thanks for baying with us! Hope we can do it again sometime!

That's awesome! Great job representing the Lacys!

Rachael, we can't see the video because it's set to private.

Well, hello to her too. :) What time did yall finally get home?

I'm sure Sammy will turn out. Sometimes there's just something that makes them click. Have you had her on a mean hog before? Chula didn't really click until we put her in front of a pig that wanted to fight.

We got home at 3:30 am we almost did not make it home ! We were on the toll road and some idiot was on the wrong side of the highway . I just happen to realize it and was able to get off the road ! Called 911 they had a trooper up the road so I think they got them . I have had Sammy in front of some good hogs but I have that same feeling that she is needing that switch flipped . I need someone to taker her to the woods !

The dogs look pretty good to me. When the hog breaks and runs, do they lose points for that. I need to go to a bay and have some people tell me what is good and what isnt. I'm proud of Patch and Levi!! I figure that if they place, thats good!!

Betty they do not lose points if the hog breaks . At this bay all the hogs did nothing but run around. I think Patch and Levi were the only dogs in that round that were actually able to get a hog to stop and bay it for any amount of time at all . I think we were better than 3rd from the way I scored all the dogs In that round. I was very surprised when we did not get called for 1st or 2nd place . But thats just how it goes !!

Oh, wow. Glad yall didn't have an accident with a moron like that!

I think Levi and Patch did an awesome job. I guess the judges saw something they liked better in the other dogs, though.

I guess so, they did things a little differnt than most of the bays I have been at . I never like when they run only one judge its so hard for one judge to watch everthing going on .I like when they use 2 or 3 judges and average the scores . I am just happy anytime we place in the top 3 :D . I thought they did great for never working together or ever even meeting each other.

I guess that judging in the hog baying world is the same as in the art world or anything else. It just depends on what the judge likes and what they see. Exhibiting or competing in most anything is a crap shoot!! But, like I said, the dogs did a good job and to place is always good.

Way to go Levi and Patch :ymapplause:

The one judge rule is definitely tough. Even with the points system, it is an objective sport, and it is so easy to miss stuff if you aren't watching every second, which is impossible if you are making marks on a score card. Plus there are a lot of regulars at the South Texas bays. The saying in horseback riding was you'll win the ribbons this year that you earned last year. I see a bit of that in baying. The seasoned dogs already have a reputation, and if the judge has already seen a good performance from them, I think they are more likely to give a dog the benefit of the doubt.
