We knew Jemma was pregnant, but assumed that she was bred much later than Jazz. So tonight, after all of the daily activities, Jazz sure looked like she was about to deliver, which was just about when I thought she would... She seemed really agitated all afternoon, and wanted to go outside three times in about an hour, and I was convinced it was game on!
So, I got her in her whelping box, and sat up till 11:30 waiting... Then she got tired of looking at me and fell asleep, and I decided it was a fake out, and that I might as well go to bed

About midnight Jemma started wailing to get out of her crate. I took her outside, and she seemed fine, so I let her up on the bed with me, and went back to sleep. But, not for long!
We have been discussing getting a new mattress, and she took care of that little issue about an hour later, when I woke up to the sound of her licking something vigorously! As I flipped on the light, I saw two little pups right there, and it was obvious she was about to add number three...
Now, she's in her box ready to finish delivering, and Jazz is still asleep...
And, I'm half asleep and doing laundry!
Lacys are just full of surprises.... And, DA Wifey says I should learn their language some day!

Yeppers, blues and reds in the boxes now! But, both of the girls are taking their sweet time between pups. Jemma has five so far, after three hours, and Jazz just had her second one a few minutes ago......

Well, I think I slept just about long enough to miss Jazz delivering pups four and five...
So, I think the final count is five each... They are all doing what newborn pups do, and I'm headed toward the guest bedroom for a few winks!

Here are some first pics, and as you can see we have something a little different in there with Jazz...
I'm gonna wait a few days before I tell you what I think it is... Jazz covered em just as I pulled out the camera, so there are a few more under her that you can't see...

Jemma only had five this time, but they are much bigger and look real good...

The second weighing shows that they are already gaining weight. The smaller litter size is sure gonna mean lots more milk available for each pup, so I expect them to grow nice and plump!
