We went to Wal-Mart today and they have 10 pound bags of chicken for $2.90 so I bought 10 bags. We are going back to raw feeding starting tomorrow.

Looks like I'll be headed to Wal-mart tomorrow, gotta get some birds for the Bird. She'll be coming home tonight and I've missed her so much! Maybe I'll throw in some juicy treats to spoil her, try to make her forget about Steve ;) Any suggestions Betty? She seemed to like the beef shank thingies, still can't totally remember what they were, but she didn't eat the bones. And I think fish would make me keel over, I can't stand the smell. So any other Wal-mart suggestions? The one I go to is in a Hispanic neighborhood so there are always some interesting options. I don't think there is anything raw she won't eat, though she is a master as cleaning every last bit of egg out without touching the shell.

You are denying her fish just because of you don't like the smell? [-x

Pretty soon you'll start thinking you have some kind of control over her! :-o

Cannon loves the whole Tilapia we'd get occasionally at Walmart. But when he decides to bury it.. yeesh!

Well, she'd probably prefer no fish than barf covered fish. Or maybe not. I really don't want to know the official raw answer!

I'm quite sure that Julie couldnt feed tripe!! I keep saying that I will order some, but I probably wont. By the way, dont get the tripe that is sold in the grocery store. It has been bleached and all of the nutrients have been removed from it thru processing. To get good tripe, you have to order it and I hear that it is really, really stinky. And, if it smells anything like a deer stomach does, I dont want to smell it!!!

Other than the tilapia that Jim suggested, I dont know about at walmart. I dont think the tilapia that I got smelled that bad tho, but I'm also not Julie. :)) If it was slightly frozen, it also wouldnt smell so bad. My dogs really like beef hearts and I can almost always find them at HEB.

I bet Sadie will be just as happy to be home as she was with Steve tho, regardless of the food.

you want to get green tripe, not the bleached and I get that at our HEB.
Evidently there are people that actually eat that X_X
Not sure you can get it at WalMart other than the bleached one and like Betty said..thats not good for the dogs

Julie I buy the chicken liver in the bucket and it smells awful, I just get a fork and feed it to them with the fork right out of the bucket I never touch it. The dogs love it, and it is easier than the beef liver you have to touch.

When I was living in Texas three years ago, I went to the world's biggest flea market in Canton, TX. I'm serious, it's been on cable shows showcasing it as the biggest flea market in the world...anyway, have any of you been to Dog town? That's where they sell the animals. Man! 3 days of walking thru JUST the Dog town and I didn't get to see all of the animals there that are for sale. Used to be they sold tigers, lions, monkeys...when I was a small kid but not anymore. They said something about safety issues :)) I saw a tri color male lacy and wanted to buy him because he was being obnoxious and nobody wants to buy a dog that is like that but for working purposes, he looked like he had the right stuff to get things done! Friends convinced me not to buy him...I then saw a litter of registered pit bull pups that were really good looking. I asked about their parents and was shown a few pictures and found out the parents were hog catchers..and the pups were good looking because they were fed a lot of catfish meat! They were stout, lively, strong pups. I wanted to take one but again was convinced not to. Oh well. I still wish I had insisted on buying the tri colored lacy but my friend was adamant that NO dogs ride in his automobile. Drats!

What does the flea market have to do with raw feeding?

I`m headed to Wally World later today, sure hope they still have that chicken priced that low!

You know there is a meat market in Liberty Hill, think I need to send Mike over there to see what they do with their trimmings..and see if they can give us a bulk rate on some stuff.. :))

I`m missing deer season already..

Steve,

Good point. I tend to talk more not on subject....something I need to work on. :)) point of my posting was that the pit pups were eating catfish meat so thought that was kind of related to raw feeding?

Close enough, Ted! Ignore Steve - he gets cantankerous when he's off in a camp all by himself. :))
