Sorry in advance, this is going to be long. I know alot of yall feed raw and that rocks. Right now its not really in the cards with all the other stuff we have going on. I do want to make sure what I'm feeding the dogs is a good choice. Also something that doesnt cost $100/ pound.

I know that the main ingredient needs to be meat, and the 1st 5 or so ingredients are the most important.

I have been feeding Pete Exclusive brand lamb and rice since I got him. Feed store in town suggested it ingredients looked to be good. All was well. A couple months ago Pete started shedding really bad. He still looks and acts fine but is REALLY shedding.

Next issue is our little rat terrier scooter. He has food allergies. Several years ago vet put him on single protein prescription food. He eats potato and venison. We found out he is not allergic to lamb either. Everything else and he breaks out. Chicken is a HUGE allergy. Looking at the ingredients its not actually that awesome, and its stupid expensive. $62 / 16# :-o . Wife normally buys it so i didnt know.

Petes current food is a no go because it have chicken fat in it. If I switch to the blue buffalo i think he could eat it. Lamb is the only meat in it.

Petes currrent food runs $44 / 35#
Blue Buffalo is $48 / 30# so not that big of a difference, and WAY better than scooters food.

See I told you it was going to be long. :)

HELP PLEASE!

i feed raw but use dry maybe once or twice a month. I did a lot of research on Raw feeding and pet foods, ingridients used in pet food and the best dry I found (IMO) was Artemis which was a dog food company originated in Austrailia that now operates in California. I no australia but this dog food has high ratings since its incorporation in 2006 or 07. This dog food had better ingredients than any, even high end(high priced) dog foods that I could find. I do not trust any dog food and it takes a lot for me to promote one but if I didn't feed raw this would be a dog food I'd be comfortable feeding my dogs. Not all pet food stores sell it but it is a reasonably priced Holistic dig food with excellent ingrediants

heres a link to the Artemis I use on occasions:
