I'm looking for a male lacy stud. I perfer him to be red or tri. He must be a working dog have a good nose and gritty enough to stop a hog and not run him all over the country. Needs to range out at an average of between 400yds to just under a mile. Must have a very blocky head and no signs of genetic defects. I would even consider a younger male over 8 months with a solid exterior impressive parents. Must have traceable bloodlines and pass a DNA test for lineage and cross exposure( no pit crosses or other stuff like that). Dog also needs to be non human aggressive. Even if you just consider the dog moody I would consider that an agressive dog . I'd hate to buy a dog someone was happy with and then have to put him down. If anyone has a male like this please contact me at adqews@yahoo.com

Thanks

I dont know if there are many lacys that go out that far. I could be wrong but thought they were more a 300 to 400 yard dog. Like I said I could be wrong...

Good luck in your hunt for a hound...

mine do. Like I said 300-400 would be fine but not exactly what I'm looking for. All the traits listed are going to be weighed out. I listed a perfect dog and I doubt anyone has exactly that, and thats okay but thats what I'm shooting for. I probablyshould have addressed that in the post. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

Has anyone ever had any DNA testing done ? Also this got me thinking if anyone has or knows anyone who has it done what they found out ? Now I think we can agree that there are some what of 2 different looking lacy's out there right . So there is the bigger type longer legs and bigger ears and more hound looking. Then the smaller type , smaller ears that are more perky if you will. shorter legs I would say more Grey hound build. So if DNA testing was done on both would they come back the same Or would they be 2 different DNA make ups ?

John, I would like to see some data on DNA testing too, you would think it could help define the breed and answer some of the long standing questions regarding the Lacy Breed.
... I prefer the smaller, shorter muscular legs, box'ier head w/ short ears and greyhound shape myself and feel that body fits better to the a true Lacy standard. My opinion of course

I dont think its a complete hijack....Mr German did bring up DNA testing...right?

I too would be interested in finding out whats in these dogs if that possible. I think a couple of years ago someone was talking about research going on at UC Davis but havent heard anymore about it. From what I remember they were suppose to send out swabs to check the dogs but like I said something happened and havent heard anymore, maybe someone with a better recall can chime in and bring us up to speed.

The UC Davis think got hijacked by an x member. From what I understood, it really wasnt the deal that we thought it was anyway.

Jim Browning is the only person that I know of that ever got his dogs DNA tested. Here is the link to that discussion. viewtopic.php?f=8&t=695

Unless DNA testing has greatly improved, it's not able to tell us a lot yet. I cant explain why, but there is discussion on that also, somewhere on the forum, by Steve Williams. Since I have spent the last 45 minutes looking for 2 different things on this forum, I'm not looking for that one!!

Yeh thats what I figured... I put the money eyes at the end of my post...
......It would take a lot of money to get me to give up a good dog, i couldn't even think what it would worth for me to give up a dog that I am close to and spent years working to help frame into a good dog but I am sure there are folks that do that, I guess it's no different then training a guide dog for someone else.

There is one big problem with all of your dogs Camo. Did you notice that they are all Blue? It is like you didn't even know that the red dogs are better.

That was interesting information that Mr Browning got back on his dog. I would have thought that DNA testing was farther advanced but guess not. The best he got was (50%+) Parson Russell Terrier (which is AKCs)) name for the Jack Russell Terrier. Ive raised those little boogers and currently still have one and dont see them in a lacy.......but what do I know....
