Post subject:  Registering a Lacy

I'm new to the forum and apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong section.

I got my Lacy, Brutus, in November 2010 and he's not registered. I knew he wasn't registered at the time, but knew his parents and figured he would be a good dog and wasn't really concerned that he wasn't registered. The problem that I'm running into now is that I would like to breed him but when people find out he's not registered they don't want to breed with him. His litter wasn't registered and I was wondering if there's any way to get him registered now and if so how do I go about making that happen? He turned 2 back in June. I would post a few pics of him, but it looks like I need a photobucket account and will have to set that up.

If you have a Facebook account you can see pics of him here http://www.facebook.com/DoubleDiamondGameTracking if you would like.

Thanks in advance for the help,
Wes

Brutus has Sultemeier in his lineage? Betty is going to be very interested in this! Thank you for contacting the NLDA, Wes.

Here is a link to information about registering a lacy with the National Lacy Dog Registry, http://wp.lacydogregistry.com/2009/07/register-lacy-dog/

And here is the breed standard: http://wp.lacydogregistry.com/standard/

Since you don't have a complete pedigree, you will need to speak to Betty Leek, owner of the registry. Betty can be reached at scarebetty@wildblue.net or 325-396-2311

Wes,

Good looking lacy!! And, a good worker!! Congrats on having such a good dog!!

Contact me and we'll see what we can do. Can't promise anything, but we will try. And, if he continues to do that good at tracking, further down the line, people wont be so picky about whether he is registered or not. A good tracking dog is a whole lot more important to someone who has a deer down than whether or not the dog has papers or not!!

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the help. Brutus just turned 2 and he's found almost 40 whitetail and about 6-7 exotics, including baying/catching 2 whitetail and 1 blackbuck. I have no idea if that's a lot or not, but it's enough for me to feel 100% confident in loading him up when someone needs help tracking. I really enjoy working with him. It's been a lot of fun. I'll try and get a photobucket account in the next few days so I can post pics here.

Betty, I'll be in touch shortly and we'll see what we can do. He meets all the breed standards, but beyond that I'm clueless. Getting him registered won't make him any better dog to me, but it would definitely be helpful in breeding him and he seems like a pretty good dog from what I see and what people tell me so it's worth a shot.

Thanks again,
Wes
