I can't agree with you more on that one Julie. As far as I'm concerned papers are just good mountain money they don't make a dog work. Some of the best dogs I know of are purebred but will never be registered because there is to much politics.

Just cause they have papers don't mean the are worth a crap.

Right on catchaser. I've been really fortunate in meeting a lot of old time Lacy breeders in the Hill Country while doing research for the NLDA. Some of the best purebred Lacys never have been and never will be registered. Some of these men have actually been hassled out of associations, others never had much interest to begin with, but they've done what they believe is best for the dogs, and in turn are producing the best dogs! Sorta funny how that happens.
