I use the wound dust stuff for horses. Then wrap there ears in a lot of gauze and tape and lock them in a kennel. The wound dust is pretty nasty and makes a black paste but it works.

Ben will get his ears opened by coons and other critters. I have had to put some vaseline on them to get them to stop, its a tempory fix in the field but keep him from bleeding all over the place.......I had to use grease from the bottom of a truck once! Once I get home I will clean it up and keep neosporin on it.

We had to use that liquid bandage on Donny's dog Royal. She decided to attack Ben (bad decision on her part) and Ben took out a chunk of her ear. The thing just would not quit bleeding and bleeding profusely. Finally, after applying the liquid bandage, it stopped and the liquid bandage stayed in place long enough for the wound to start healing. The ears bleed so much because there are thousands of tiny capillaries in the ears. Dogs will sometimes get blood clots (cant remember what they are called) under the skin on their ears just from shaking their head head so hard that their ears get damaged. The body will eventually reabsorb the blood clot.
